Hey there, nice to meet you!
I’m Alicia, and true to my last name, I live beside the woods in Squamish, Canada.
I love spending time outside, whether that’s seeking my limits as a trail/ultra/mountain runner, eating chocolate croissants to my best ability while ski touring, or just casually hiking around with my baby and a coffee (usually #3 of the day). I’ve somehow completed over 40 ultra marathon races so far, and have been super lucky to have some success (and plenty of juicy failures) as a runner, from childhood (competing in weird events like the hurdles and triple jump) to university (competing for UBC in the marathon) to running for Team Canada in 50-mile trail and 100km road events. Most of all, I live for the long adventures, grassroots community events, and discovering magical places all over the world, preferably with friends and family. Some of my favourite adventures include running 70km to a remote bakery in the North Cascades, running the Rim to Rim to Rim in Grand Canyon and the Zion Traverse, mountain runs & via ferrata trips in the Alps and Dolomites in France/Italy/Spain, and running through the Gobi Desert in Mongolia, where no roads exist. It’s also magical to run, ski, and hike where I live, a setting of mountains and fjords and ocean, with endless opportunities all around.
For work, I’ve always followed my passion and curiosity and taken the trail less traveled. I’ve worked in product innovation at lululemon, I’ve hustled to wear many hats at startup RunGo, I’ve been self-employed as a writer and worked on my own health foods company, and these days, I have a fun and fulfilling job working for my local community in economic development, as a Professional Project Manager. When I’m not somewhere in the woods or working, I love writing, eating as much as a large man, drinking fancy coffee, having mini adventures with my partner and little baby, and volunteering for search and rescue.
Thanks for visiting my blog, I hope that it brings you some motivation, encouragement, and ideas for your next adventures!
